Dr. Tewfik Soulimane appointed as Scientific Advisor to HKPB Scientific

HKPB Scientific announces the appointment of Dr. Tewfik Soulimane as Scientific Advisor to the company
HKPB Scientific is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tewfik Soulimane of the CES Department & MSSI, University of Limerick to the Scientific Advisory Board of the company. Dr. Soulimane received his Ph. D. in Biochemistry in 1993 and Habilitation in 2001 from RWTH-Aachen, Germany. He has had a distinguished research career to date focused on the biochemistry and characterization of membrane proteins, which has included appointments as:
- A research fellow at the Department of Biological and Chemistry, University of Essex, Colchester, UK
- Senior Scientist of Biochemistry, RWTH-Aachen and Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany in 1995
- Project Leader “Membrane Protein Biochemistry and Biophysics”, Paul Scherrer Institute, Villigen, Switzerland in 2001
- Senior Research Scholar, Membrane Protein Structural Biology, University of Limerick, Ireland in 2005
Presently Dr. Soulimane is a member of the faculty of Chemical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Limerick and is on the executive committee of the Materials and Surface Science Institute (MSSI).
In addition to having raised significant research funding from Irish state agencies, such as Science foundation Ireland, the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering and Technology and the Higher Education Authority, Dr. Soulimane has a strong record of research funding and publication in Europe and has been consistently published in respected high impact factor journals including: J. Biol. Chem., J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. U.S.A.
Commenting on Dr. Soulimane’s appointment Dr. Kennedy of HKPB Scientific said: “We are pleased to announce Dr. Soulimane’s appointment to our Scientific Advisory Board. The MSSI is housed in a purpose built building on the University of Limerick campus equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and facilities. The research activity of the Institute is focused on four themes: Biomaterials, Nanomaterials, Composite and Glass Materials and Bio/Catalysis and Clean Technology. The Institute currently houses 216 researchers. In 2007, MSSI received research income of €12.7 million, published over 100 papers and 27 researchers received their PhD degrees under the supervision of academic members of MSSI.
