Partnering Opportunities
HKPB Scientific is currently seeking strategic co-development partnerships with leaders in the medical device arena. Co-development projects may begin with a feasibility agreement to develop a customer-specific solution leading to development and licensing agreements. HKPB Scientific is a results driven company and our business is delivering on milestones and goals within a project framework.
How can Partners benefit from the TM – CMC technology?
HKPB Scientific has developed TM – CMC to meet the growing demand for innovative biomedical device coating solutions and to service a number of unmet needs in that large and growing market. This groundbreaking innovation can be tailored to meet specific customer’s needs delivering the following benefits:
Clinical Benefit
HKPB believes that TM – CMC can offer the following clinical benefits.
Therapeutic Agents
- The cooling properties of the liquid portion of the aerosol uniquely allows for the incorporation of thermally sensitive, therapeutic agents into a coating in a single step process.
- Loading of therapeutic agents can be controlled by precise control of process parameters.
- A homogeneous distribution of therapeutic agent within the coating can be achieved due to the inherent characteristics of the TM – CMC process.
Biocompatibility
- No complex chemicals, curing agents or polymerisation initiators are needed to adhere TM-CMC coatings to medical devices.
- No subsequent heat treatments, which may result in the degradation of the coating materials, are needed for coating formation.
- Water, which is inherently biocompatible may be used in TM – CMC.
Device Integrity
- TM – CMC prevents heat damage at the surface of medical devices that can occur with high temperature coating methodologies.
Cost and Process Benefits
HKPB believes that TM – CMC can offer the following cost and process benefits.
Single Step Process
- In contrast to other multi-step coating processes TM – CMC allows the formation of drug eluting coating instantaneously without the requirement for pre or post processing.
- Significantly reduces manufacturing costs in terms of time, labour and capital equipment.
- Reduced potential for unwanted contamination of devices.
Manufacturability
- TM – CMC combines the equipment platforms from techniques that have long been used in the surface modification arena: atomisers and shot peeners.
- The automation, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) etc. required to implement TM – CMC has already been developed and integrated into manufacturing line.
- Automation and precision means that with TM – CMC quality and reproducibility are standard with minimum waste of expensive therapeutic agents.
Flexibility
- TM – CMC may be used to coat a broad range of devices made of metal, ceramic or hard polymers.
- A vast spectrum of coating materials including polymers, ceramics, metals and thermally sensitive agents can be coated onto medical devices in a single step.
- The coating composition is readily controlled through the precursor composition.
- A wide range of precursor compositions can be used including individually or in combination solutions, suspensions, colloidal suspensions, gels, sols or resins.
